Telegram Open Network (TON) announced that the original investors have been informed that the blockchain network would launch in late October.
The message from the official TON Board on Telegram stated that the testing state has been successful. The investors are provided with TON key generation software and will be required to provide Telegram with a public key to receive the platform’s native tokens, Gram (GRM) by Oct. 16.
The TON testnet explorer and node software were released in early September by Telegram. An alpha version of the Gram token wallet for iOS was released soon after.
Users will be able to move their Ethereum smart contracts over to TON, as the network is compatible with the Ethereum network.
Managed by Telegram’s token offering investors, TON Labs has been reportedly developing a Solidity compiler for its blockchain, used to develop smart contracts on Ethereum. A coding competition was announced for building smart contracts on the TON network; contestants can compete for a reward worth around $200,000 to $400,000.
