Deltia AI Enhances Manufacturing Efficiency with NVIDIA Metropolis and Jetson
Berlin-based startup Deltia AI is revolutionizing manufacturing efficiency by utilizing NVIDIA Metropolis vision AI and Jetson AGX Orin modules. Founded in 2022 by Silviu Homoceanu and Max Fischer, the company aims to optimize assembly line processes through advanced AI technologies.
Origins and Vision
Deltia AI was conceived at Berlin’s Merantix venture studio, where Homoceanu, a former leader of self-driving software at Volkswagen, and Fischer, a startup founder who digitized over 40 factories, saw AI's potential in manufacturing. Their platform leverages NVIDIA Metropolis and Jetson AGX Orin to provide significant performance improvements on production lines.
As a partner of NVIDIA Metropolis, Deltia estimates that its software can achieve up to a 20% performance increase for its clients. Notable customers such as Viessman and ABB are already employing Deltia’s platform, with Viessman expecting up to a 50% productivity boost once fully integrated.
Innovative Solutions for Manufacturing
The platform operates by installing sensors and cameras on assembly lines to gather data. This data is then processed using NVIDIA-accelerated computing to train models that monitor and optimize line activities. These models are deployed on Jetson AGX Orin modules, providing real-time operational insights via a custom dashboard.
“We provide our users with a dashboard that is basically the Google Analytics of manufacturing,” said Homoceanu, CTO of Deltia. “We install these sensors, and two weeks later they get the keys to this dashboard, and the magic happens in the background.”
The Jetson-based systems continuously monitor camera streams, extracting metadata to track product movement and work processes. This information is crucial for identifying bottlenecks and enhancing line output.
Edge AI and Real-Time Insights
Deltia’s platform goes beyond basic optimization. It provides real-time alerts when production deviates from targets and tracks key performance indicators such as cycle times and output rates. The platform also helps map factory processes, suggesting improvements for workflows and shop-floor layouts.
For example, one client found that relocating material shelves closer to workers reduced cycle times and increased production by over 30%. Additionally, Deltia’s platform can monitor machine states to predict maintenance needs, thereby reducing downtime and operational costs.
“Our vision is to empower manufacturers with the tools to achieve unprecedented efficiency,” said Fischer, CEO of Deltia AI. “Seeing our customers experience as much as a 30% increase in productivity with our vision models running on NVIDIA Jetson Orin validates the transformative potential of our technology.”
Deltia is also a part of the NVIDIA Inception program, which supports cutting-edge startups.
