Gathered over hundreds of blockchain professionals, lawyers and fund managers, the SPOT Conference took place on the HKEx Connect Hall on 29 July. Here is our rating for this event!

Overall rating: B+

1)  Theme of Blockchain event: 3.5/5

There is a wide range of topics covered in the SPOT Conference, such as crypto custody, regulations, stablecoins and security of crypto exchanges. It appeared that the core theme is missing in the SPOT Conference. The speaker lineups are relevant to most of the panel discussions. We notice that topics stated in the website such as sidechains, second-layer networks are not covered in the conference.

2)  Scale of blockchain event: 4/5

There are over 100 participants in this conference, with leaders in the blockchain, financial and legal space. This conference invited some of the prominent leaders in PwC, Coinbase and King and Wood Mallesons. It would be better if there are some representatives from traditional banking giants joining the event.

3)  Amount of promotional content: 4.5/5

The Spot Conference consists of panel discussions and one presentation on the FATF Guideline. We think there are only a few promotional contents from the panellists.

4)  Event location, transportation and logistics arrangement: 3.5/5

The conference is held in HKEx Connect Hall, which is proximate to MTR and public transport. However, there is no media room or areas for interviews. The photo of panellists is wrongly displayed in one panel, which leaves rooms for improvement for the organiser.
