Ethereum protocol developers recently convened for the 200th All Core Developers Execution (ACDE) call, chaired by Tim Beiko of the Ethereum Foundation. These bi-weekly meetings are crucial for coordinating changes to Ethereum’s execution layer, according to Galaxy.com.
Pectra Devnet 4 & Mekong Updates
The meeting included updates on Pectra and Mekong testnets. Parithosh Jayanthi from the Ethereum Foundation shared that the official blog post regarding the Mekong testnet is live, inviting developers to experiment with the EIPs in Pectra. Despite plans to deprecate Pectra Devnet 4, it will remain operational during the upcoming Devcon conference.
Pectra Devnet 5 Preparations
As the team prepares for Pectra Devnet 5, changes to EIP 7702 were confirmed without objections. Discussions on refining the fee logic of EIP 7002 continue, with developers encouraged to resolve concerns before the next meeting.
Individual EIP Activations
Alex Stokes raised questions about testing PeerDAS on Fusaka devnets without activating other changes. Nethermind's Łukasz Rozmej explained their approach to EIP activation, while Geth's Felix Lange cautioned against potential complications.
eth/70, Sharded Blocks Protocol
Giulio Rebuffo proposed a new EIP to extend Ethereum’s wire protocol, addressing history growth issues. Concerns were raised about the readiness of the Portal Network for data pruning, leading to discussions on client-specific solutions.
EIP 7610 Potential Removal
Concerns over EIP 7610's implementation prompted discussions around its potential removal. Developers agreed to engage with the EIP's authors and explore alternative solutions.
ACD Call Schedule
Due to the Devcon conference, next week’s ACDC call is canceled. The conference will feature breakout sessions on Ethereum’s development. Regular calls will resume on November 21.
